[lead]Last Friday (22 March 2019), the Summer Foundation partnered with Youngcare to host the 2019 Get Building SDA National Conference. The conference was attended by more than 400 people, all keen to hear the latest news and insights into Specialist Disability Accommodation.[/lead]
The conference featured a broad range of expert presenters who generously shared their time, knowledge and expertise. If you weren’t able to attend, we will be sharing many of the presentations, as well as video and audio content, in coming weeks.
Minister for Social Services, Paul Fletcher MP, used his keynote address to launch the Younger People in Residential Aged Care Action Plan. SDA plays a critical role in achieving the targets in this plan. The Summer Foundation welcomes the government’s Action Plan and we look forward to working with the government to achieve these targets. You can read our response to the Younger People in Residential Aged Care Action Plan here.
Also launched at the conference was an important new report by the Summer Foundation and Social Ventures Australia, called Specialist Disability Accommodation – Supply in Australia. You can download the report here.
The conference also provided an excellent networking opportunity where new connections were made. These connections will lay the ground for future collaborations, partnerships and investment in the SDA market.
Those who attended the conference left with a renewed confidence and optimism around SDA.
