Summer Foundation founder, Dr Di Winkler has been appointed as a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia (General Division), for significant service to people with a disability.
After working with people with severe brain injuries for more than 20 years, Di founded the Summer Foundation in 2006, to solve the issue of young people with disability living in nursing homes.
In 2017 she helped found Australia-wide housing not-for-profit organisation, Summer Housing, which provides accommodation that supports independent living, for people with disability.
This honour is a tremendous recognition of Di’s passion, commitment and achievements toward resolving the problem of young people in aged care.
