Looking to 2023

As 2022 draws to a close, we are excited to look forward and share some of the major projects that will keep us busy in the first half of 2023.

The Housing Hub is planning new Housing Options webinars in regional and remote locations for people with disability. The Marketing and Communications team wants to  increase the amount of user generated content from people with lived experience, including new blog posts, stories, and videos to share. If you have a story that you would like to share you can email the Marketing and Communications team here.

The Government Relations and Policy team is looking towards a proactive 2023, with a number of exciting opportunities on the horizon. It will be looking to influence how the NDIS Review, the Disability Royal Commission and coming changes to the NDIS Home and Living Policy can maximise good outcomes for people with disability.

The strong focus on young people in aged care and working with the federal and state governments to support younger people to live well in the community will continue.

The Summer Foundation’s Lived Experience and Research teams will deliver the NDIS Commission project, which is the co-design of recommended tools and resources to support NDIS participant engagement with the NDIS workforce capacity framework.

The Lived Experience team will start a program of quarterly user group workshops to support the development of the Housing Hub, following up some early interest in its fee for service co-design work.

In 2023 the research team will continue its work on the key focus areas of accessible housing, hospital discharge, capacity building and co-design, and the NDIS and YPIRAC.

The team’s  major project exploring the barriers to efficient hospital discharge will continue across 10 hospital sites, and a project exploring the housing and support needs and preferences of people with progressive neurological disorders, such as Huntington’s Disease, is ongoing.

Off the back of the Survey of NDIS Participants, the team will continue to engage with the NDIA as it works on its review of the NDIS, and help ensure that the voices of participants are at the centre.

It will also collect data that explores the needs and preferences of younger people stuck in aged care and produce evidence to support the government’s YPIRAC strategy.
